Gucci Intense Oud is a highly acclaimed amber-woody unisex fragrance launched in 2016. Created by master perfumer Aurélien Guichard, it is widely considered one of the finest "niche-quality" releases ever produced by a mainstream designer house, drawing regular comparisons to high-end oriental extraits.
The Scent Profile
- The Opening: A striking blend of cold, smoky frankincense (olibanum) and spicy saffron, subtly brightened by hints of raspberry and pear.
- The Heart: A dark, smooth Damask rose and orange blossom layer that adds texture without turning overly floral.
- The Drydown: A heavy, commanding base dominated by a rich, polished agarwood (oud) accord, rugged animalic leather, earthy patchouli, and warm ambergris.
Unlike "barnyard" or heavily animalic oud oils that can be polarizing, the oud note here is smooth, resinous, and slightly medicinal. It is heavily backdropped by a sleek, hyper-masculine leather and sweet amber structure.
